"The Sun City", Jaisalmer is situated in the centre of the Thar Desert, Rajasthan. The city was founded by Maharaja Maharawal Jaisal Singh in 1156 AD which is placed at a distance of 575 km west from the capital Jaipur. The town is emerged with lots of historical stories and popularly known as "The Golden City of India". The city is so called " the golden city of India because every architecture of the city is constructed with yellow sand and yellow sandstone which gives a golden yellow touch to its surroundings. The sunrise and the sunset is the amazing beauty of the place. As the sun goes down, the sky is scattered with orange flames which attracts enormous tourist to this place. The desert city is famous for its forts, Havelis and cobbled streets.
The Jaisalmer Fort
It is the second oldest forts in Rajasthan, proudly standing on the Trikuta Hill. The prime attractions of the fort are Jain temple, Raja Mahal, Laxminath Temple and gateways of Merchant Havelis. From the crest of the palace one can enjoy the wonderful view of the entire city, gardens, forts and temples.
Havelis
The havelis of Jaisalmer take us a tour of ancient Jaisalmer and witnessed diverse structures of different period. All the havelis are constructed with big rooms, balconies and corridors and its architectural work attract the tourist from all round the world.
Patwon-Ki-Haveli
One of the most fascinating pieces of Architecture which is considered more precious because of two things; firstly, this is the earliest Haveli of Jaisalmer and secondly, the haveli is a cluster of 5 other small havelis. The Haveli is also known as mansion of brocade merchants'. The haveli itself symbolizes the culture of Rajasthan.
