Pushkar

The city Pushkar, is situated 14 km away from the Northwest part of district Ajmer, Rajasthan. This is the holy place for all Hindu devotees where Pushkar Lake is flowing through the heart of the city. The Lake has 52 ghats where pilgrims take bath in the scared water t get heavenly peace. It is believed that when Satti (wife of Lord Shiva) died, Lord Shiva cried a lot and from his tear there originated two holy ponds named by Pushkara and Ketaksha. The most famous dams Badrinath, Dwarka, Puri, Rameswaram are seated in this city which are flourished with several temples. The holy place, Pushkar is famous for its camel fair and Brahma temple (which is very scarce to found in India). Most of the temples of Pushkar are destroyed during Muslim consequences. The destroyed temples were rebuilt later on, therefore the availability of old temples are scarce in the city.

October to mid-March is the best time for Pushkar travel.

The Pushkar Lake
Pushkar Lake, the prime attraction of all the tourist is considered scared like Mansarovar Lake in Tibet. The lake was originated when the Lotus of Lord Brahma dropped from his hand in this place. Now it has become the famous holy place for all Hindu pilgrims.

Bramha Temple
The holy temple is situated on the bank of Pushkar Lake, one of the scare temples in India which is totally dedicated to Lord Brahma. The temple is believed to be 2000 years of old and is constructed with beautiful marble and stone stabs. Large numbers of pilgrims visit to this place every year on the great festival Kartik Poornima, that is dedicated to Brahma and take bath on the holy water of the lake.

Savitri Temple
The most intricate temple, Ramavaikunth was built in 1920, where more than 361 different deities of gods are sculpted on the wall of the temple. This is one of the largest temples in Pushkar which shows a distinctive influence of the south Indian style of architecture.

Pushkar Fair
Pushkar is well known for its camel fair which is organized in the month of November. The fair is continued for five days where 50,000 of camels brought from miles and traded. The festival is celebrated with folk music, Rajasthani dances, magic shows, horse and camel races. Tourists can experience the rugged camel riding in the great Thar Desert of India.

Air
From Jaipur’s Sanganer Airport Pushkar is nearly 146 km apart and the capital Jaipur is well connected with all other major cities of India.

Road
Rajasthan Roadways provides deluxe bus services from Jaipur and within every 15 minutes all busses are available to Nagda, Ajmer, Delhi and Indore. From Jaipur, Pushkar is 2.30 hrs drives.

Rail
Pushkar Railway station is well connected with Ajmer Railway Junction which connects almost all the major cities in India such as Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, , Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Indore, Patna, Bhopal, Kanpur, Lucknow, Trivandrum and Cochin.
